For this year’s Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K & 5k Run/Walk, the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau has instituted several “going-green” practices in an effort help reduce waste and protect our environment.

One of the things the Chamber has done is bring EcoUsable on board as a sponsor. EcoUsable will be providing filtered water at the finish line, which will greatly reduce the number of plastic bottles that runners use.

Also, the cups that will be used along the race course at the various water stations and at finish line will be made from corn, a renewable source, and are 100 percent compostable.

Runners who don’t want to bring plastic bottles to the race will also be able to purchase the official Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K & 5K Run/Walk water bottle from EcoUsable at the Health & Fitness Expo on January 31st at Seaside Lagoon or on race day. This water bottle is made from stainless steel and is 100 percent recyclable.

In addition, the City is providing recycling bins that will be placed throughout the Health & Fitness Expo and especially in the Asahi Beer Garden. SEA Lab representatives will be going around and picking up the cans in the bins to ensure that they are recycled.
